Should I attend work?

If you need to stay home, contact your line manager to discuss your situation. If you need advice or assistance following the conversation with your manager, please contact the union.

Please note your entitlements will vary also - depending on the terms of your contract of employment and whether an enterprise agreement or a modern award applies to your employment.
We recommend that you raise issues initially with your management and contact the union if you need further assistance.
The union is in contact with private sector employers about what they propose to do to protect employees and their entitlements and incomes. Change is happening rapidly as the health system realigns significantly and we are contacting members at different workplaces directly.
Employers are required by law to maintain safe and health workplaces. Access to PPE is the critical issue for health workers. This is the union’s priority – the safety of members. This also means those who can work from home, should be able to do so urgently.

Personal hygiene measures are essential, please remember:
- Avoid touching your face
- Wash your hands frequently for at least 20 seconds
- Cough and sneeze into a tissue and then dispose of tissues and wash your hands, or cough and sneeze into your elbow if a tissue is not available
