We have started the process of bargaining for a new Agreement for members’ pay and conditions in WA public hospitals and health services. The first stage of the process is establishing our log of claims before commencing negotiations with the Department of Health.
The current Agreement has a nominal expiry date of 30 June 2020.
We have had a huge and informative response to our survey from members. Thank you to all who completed the survey and to the many members who contributed ideas for claims.
In addition to wage increases, there were strong themes from members around improving conditions that relate to workload, flexible work arrangements and job security. There are also some significant claims for particular cohorts of members, especially our shift workers.
Our next step is to meet in workplaces over the next few weeks to further shape the claims for the Agreement and have feedback and discussion in person. The meetings will set out further details of the survey results. The list of meetings at workplaces is below, a teleconference for WACHS members is to be advised.
On 2 April we will hold our Union Workplace Representatives Conference for review of the proposed claims in the new Agreement. The final step is endorsement of the log of claims by the union’s Committee of Management.
If you’d like to add to the feedback we’ve already gathered, you can do this by talking to your Union Rep, attending one of the meetings, emailing or calling the union office. If you are a Union Rep please consider nominating or telling us who you think would make a great Union Rep!
We hope to see you at one of the upcoming workplace meetings.
Potential members are welcome. Invite a colleague to learn more about the process so they can choose to stand with you, by participating and joining their union.
