Brightwater EBA 2019

With a 94.48% "yes" vote HSUWA members employed by the Brightwater Care Group have overwhelmingly endorsed a new Agreement providing for wage increases of 6% over 3 years - backdated to the 1st July 2019.

The Agreement is now in the process of being lodged with the Fair Work Commission for approval. The first wage increase will apply as soon as practicable after a " yes" vote of employees with payment of arrears to July 2019 following that. The next 1.5% wage increase and the changes to the conditions of employment will not apply until 7 days after approval by the Fair Work Commission which is likely to be late December/ early January.

For approval, the Fair Work Commission reviews an enterprise agreement in its entirety to ensure that employees are not any worse off, both in wages and conditions of employment, than they would be under the Aged Care Award and Health Professionals and Support Services Award. This process is termed the BOOT (better off overall test). Unfortunately, we have no control over the length of time the Fair Work Commission takes for approval - of late has 'been as little as 3 weeks up to 3+ months.
