Christmas comes early for BreastScreen member Laureen Dirksz
Monday 02 Dec 2013
'Christmas has come early for me!' was the response HSUWA member Laureen Dirksz gave when told she had won a Nespresso coffee package. Laureen works as an Administrative Assistant in BreastScreen's head office. She has been a member of the HSUWA for nearly 5 years and really values the advice and support.
The prize is a result of the HSUWA being invited to attend BreastScreen's annual in-service event. The BreastScreen WA Program is the state component of the national breast cancer screening program, BreastScreen Australia. BreastScreen provides mammography services to the women of Western Australia through an array of clinics across the metropolitan area and has mobile facilities for women in rural areas. The model means the only opportunity for staff to meet occurs at their annual in-service event.
Our Representative at BreastScreen, Darryl Christian, arranged for us to attend on the day. It was a very valuable opportunity to hear about the issues BreastScreen employees face at work, their hopes for the upcoming EBA negotiation and to answer questions about their rights. Our thanks go to Darryl for her efforts, to BreastScreen management for the opportunity and to Shoprite who assisted us with the prize.
Congratulations Laureen - we hope you have a fabulous Christmas and New Year filled with plenty of great coffee!
