EBA mass meetings build momentum

Thursday 01 May 2014

The EBA mass meetings have continued to build momentum, and today's meeting at RPH attracted over 200 people.

Members agreed to pass four resolutions to commit to the EBA campaign:

1.     Confirm and endorse the union's claim of 4% and 5% over two years; no trade-offs; and aligned with this, action to enforce permanent employment.

2.     Reject the arbitrary and unfair State Government wages policy of pay increases of no more than 2.5% a year.

3.     Take industrial action from 1 June 2014 if an acceptable pay offer is not received from the Department of Health.

4.     Authorise the Secretary to call further mass meetings and escalate industrial action as required.

Members also participated in a photo campaign by posing with placards stating their reasons for deserving a payrise.

We encourage members to attend meetings and help share our messages with their teams, in person, and/or via social media.

The HSUWA has also held meetings at SCGH, Armadale Hospital, HCN and Shenton Park. For a full schedule of meetings for the next two weeks, click here.

A recent survey of health workers revealed that around 85% want the HSUWA to pursue a pay rise of more than the government's standard CPI, which is currently 2.5%.

Over the next two years doctors, nurses and support workers will get pay increases averaging 4% a year.

If you believe you should be treated equally with the other members of your integrated health team, attend the Mass Meeting scheduled at your workplace.

We'll see you there.
