EBA mass meetings update
Wednesday 30 Apr 2014
The EBA mass meetings are underway and have had a really good turnout so far.
Today's meeting at SCGH attracted around 300 people and members were asked to pass four resolutions to commit to the EBA campaign.
We also asked members to take part in our photo campaign by writing on a board why they deserve a pay rise. We took photos of members holding up their reasons, which will be posted on our FB page. We encourage other members attending meetings to take part to get our messages out.
The HSUWA has also already held lunchtime meetings at Armadale Hospital, HCN and Shenton Park and will be at RPH tomorrow. For a full schedule of meetings, click here.
A recent survey of health workers revealed that around 85% want the HSUWA to pursue a pay rise of more than the government's standard CPI, which is currently 2.5%.
Over the next two years doctors, nurses and support workers will get pay increases averaging 4% a year.
What we need to remind the government is that our health system is more than just doctors and nurses.
You are working in an environment of unprecedented change and uncertainty, with new hospitals and new ways of working. Job security is under pressure.
If you believe you should be treated equally with the other members of the health team then you must attend the Mass Meeting scheduled at your workplace.
We'll see you there.
