Pay Us - Action to Commence for Public Sector Pay

Thursday 30 Jun 2022

HSUWA, has been negotiating a new union agreement that covers your pay and conditions since 14 December last year.

Despite the many months of discussion about why improvements are needed and your current agreement expiring on 30 June 2022, we are yet to receive a formal Offer.

The System Manager has rejected (or not answered) Union claims on key conditions like staffing, proper breaks and rest, workforce planning, job security, and retaining health professionals.

Health Worker Pay
We know what the pay offer will be. Despite the McGowan Government sitting on their second consecutive huge budget surplus, the State Wages Policy of 2.5-2.75% will see every single WA public Health Worker go backwards

The McGowan Government expects Health Workers to take a further cut to real wages despite going above and beyond for the past two years, with no easing of demand in sight. The cut to real wages is significant – as inflation in Perth soars annually to 7.6% (for the March Qtr 2022.)

Time to Take Action
In response, last week HSUWA Delegates across the State endorsed a plan of action for the next two months.  We will begin with a short Stop Work Meeting at 12.30pm on Wednesday 6 July 2022 at QEII, with more hospital sites to follow. We ask that you join in and show solidarity.

  • Wednesday, 6 July 2022 at QEII. Stop Work Meeting: 12.30pm sharp (for approx 30 minutes on the grass between PCH and the multi storey car park).

  • Wednesday, 20 July 2022 at Royal Perth Hospital. Stop Work Meeting: (lunchtime – further details coming)

  • Wednesday,  3 August 2022 at Fiona Stanley Hospital. Stop Work Meeting: (lunchtime – further details coming)

  • Tentative - 17 August 2022 Strike - Rally  With the Public Sector Alliance at Parliament House Action to be endorsed by members at the Stop Work Meetings if there is no better and fairer pay deal!

HSUWA does not take industrial action lightly. Unfortunately, we have exhausted every other avenue for a fair deal. We now need members standing together and taking actionJoin us.
