Private Sector update

Over the past year, with the support of members, the Union has successfully negotiated Enterprise Bargaining Agreements improving wages and conditions of employment for over 4000 employees at:

Aegis Aged Care Group

-       9.75% quantum pay increase over 3 years

-       Expanded classification scale for Administration employees and Allied Health Professionals.

-       Long Service Leave increased - now 10 weeks after 10 years served then 10 weeks after 7 years service, with pro-rata access at 7 years service.

-       Scabies has been included in Communicable Disease provisions where employees are paid for any time off.    

Baptistcare

-       Minimum 9.5% quantum pay increase over 3 years

-       Administration Assistants, Therapy Assistants, and Allied Health Professionals reclassified with the maximum level for Allied Health Professionals increased.

-       Paid Special Leave provisions to include 2 days on the birth of a grandchild

-       Long Service Leave increased to 13 weeks after each 10 years service with pro-rata access after 5 years service.

-       Paid Parental Leave increased to 6 weeks after 12 months service to a maximum of 10 weeks after 3 years service.

-       Paid Communicable Infection Leave of up to 3 days each year

-       New Allowances - Bus, Manual Handling/Retention, OSH

Brightwater Care Group

-       Minimum 12.75% pay increase quantum over 42 months

-       Expanded classification scale for Allied Health Professionals (Therapists)

-       Up to 2 days per year of Personal Leave able to be used as Grandparent Leave on the birth or adoption of a grandchild.

-       Paid Communicable Infection Leave available - no limit

Good Samaritan Industries

-       Minimum quantum increase of 10.75% over 3 years

-       Reclassification of a number of classifications and positions - around 30% of employees received more than the first year's pay increase of 3.25%

-       Loading for working Sundays increased to 100%

-       Retail workers loading for working after 6pm increased to 25%.

-       Up to 2 days per year of Personal Leave able to be used as Grandparent Leave on the birth or adoption of a grandchild.

-       Paid Parental Leave - 18 weeks payment of the difference between the Government's paid parental leave payments and the employee's usual wage

-       Higher duties paid after 2 days

-       Recognition of Union Workplace Reps with paid time off for training.

Independent Living Centre

-       9.5% quantum pay increase over 3 years

-       Casual loading increased to 25%

-       Incidentals Allowance introduced based on HDWA rates.

Mercy Hospital Mt Lawley

-       Minimum 12% quantum increase over 3 years

-       Increased classification band for general administration/clerical employees

-       Health Professionals classifications restructured

-       1 week's additional Annual Leave for being on call and called in

-       Paid Parental Leave increased to 10 weeks after 12 months service

-       Loading for working nights increased - 20% year 1 increasing to 30% in year 3

Mount Hospital

-       Minimum 12% quantum pay increase over 3 years

-       Increased classifications saw a number of employees receiving more than the initial 4% increase

-       No changes to employment provisions - no "Trade Offs"

Serco Fiona Stanley Hospital

-       New Enterprise Agreement to provide for wages and conditions of employment specific to Serco employees at Fiona Stanley - mix of provisions similar to both Public and Private Hospital Enterprise Agreements.

-       Classifications similar to those applying under the WA Health Services Union PACTS Industrial Agreement 2011.

-       Wage rates identical to the current HSUWA rates applying at WA Public Hospitals - increased 3.75% in year 2 & 3.5% in year 3.

St John of God Pathology

-       Minimum 9.5% quantum pay increase over 3 years

-       Classification adjustments for all callings - increased levels for many

-       Access to pro-rata Long Service Leave after 7 years service

-       Additional Leave - up to an additional week's leave for being on call

-       Additional Leave of 1 week for designated shift workers

-       Sunday afternoon shift loading increased to 75%  

Swan Care Group

-       Minimum 9.75% quantum pay increase over 3 years

-       Up to 2 days per year of Personal Leave able to be used as Grandparent Leave on the birth or adoption of a grandchild.

-       Long Service Leave able to be taken at ½ the pay for double the period, or double the pay for ½ the period.

-       Paid Union Workplace Representatives leave for training, etc

Waikiki Private Hospital

-       12% quantum increase over 3 years

-       Increased classification bands

-       Access to pro-rata Long Service Leave after 7 years service

-       Sunday penalty loading increased to 75%

 

Negotiations are continuing for Enterprise Agreements at:

-       Global Diagnostics

-       Hall & Prior Aged Care Organisation

-       Ramsay Healthcare Group

-       Regis Group

-       Silver Chain Group

 

The new year will be another busy year - the Union will be seeking to negotiate new Agreements at:

-       Activ Foundation

-       Amana Living

-       Amaroo Care Services

-       Association for the Blind

-       Bethesda Hospital

-       Carinya of Bicton

-       Clinipath Pathology

-       Rocky Bay

-       Royal Australian Air Force Association Residential Care

-       The Centre for Cerebral Palsy

Members should keep an eye out for flyers and other information, and ensure they attend meetings held to discuss the issues relevant to their workplace and conditions of employment.  When it comes to bargaining for a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement it really is in your interests that you take an active part in the process and help achieve the best possible outcome.  We can only do that by being withyouatwork - sticking together - teamwork - collective strength.
