Public Sector Bargaining Update: Protect Us.

Since February, HSUWA has been in negotiations for a new Union Agreement for Members in the public sector. We are still several weeks away from receiving a formal offer, but the Department has already indicated they are not hearing you on key claims.
 
This includes not supporting the following claims to better protect Members:

  • Paid Rest Break: A 15 minute paid rest break in each 4 hours worked. UPDATE 17 JUNE 2022: The System Manager has indicated they will support this claim in part, with no further detail until the offer is presented. 
  • COVID-19 AllowanceRecognition of the effort of responding to the pandemic, including wearing PPE, with compensation.
  • Long Service Leave: Access to pro rata Long Service Leave after 7 years.
  • Written Contracts: Employees to be provided with written contracts of employment. UPADATE 17 JUNE 2022: The System Manager has indicated they will support this claim in part, with no further detail until the offer is presented. 

This is not too much to ask.  These are basic claims, based on Safety and industrial standards.
