Public Sector Bargaining Update: Respect Us.
Friday 10 Jun 2022
As you know, HSUWA has been in negotiations for a new Union Agreement for Members in public health, after the Log of Claims was submitted on 14 December 2021. The countdown is now on – to receive an offer before 30 June 2022.
In addition to key claims which would afford Health Workers more protection, Members need to be aware the Department is not supporting the following claims which would demonstrate respect for health workers:
- Workforce Planning: Commit to a structured reporting process of health workforce planning.
- Climate Change: A commitment to improved sustainability through targeted waste reduction and steps to reduce emissions in health.
- Increased Clinical Support: A review of non-clinical or non-nursing duties performed by nurses or other health professionals.
- Solo Shift Work: An additional allowance for employees required to work solo shifts to reflect the greater complexity and responsibility of the shift.
Members have worked so hard, and shown a commitment and dedication to the WA community like no other sector, throughout the pandemic. It is becoming clear that Health Workers will not be afforded the respect you deserve unless you take action as a HSUWA Member.
