Reconfiguration of South Metro expands

Friday 20 Feb 2015

The framework of the changes to RPH and Fremantle mean many members have already transferred to FSH, with more wards and services to come online by April.

The FSH site is now crowded; it's now a case of 'join the queues at the food hall'! But that activity and the massive changes being experienced by members are causing much stress and anxiety.

We are hearing about inflexible rostering, inexperienced management, system failures, and tension between the public and private operators. If you are finding it stressful and want to do something to try and improve things, please contact us.

Changes are also likely to be ongoing for some time at Fremantle and RPH as services are adapted to the new reduced service model at each site. As with FSH, let us know if you are having problems.

The latest target for major change is now Bentley, with the looming closure of the day procedure unit and the medical and surgical wards. Under the clinical services plan Bentley will become a 200-bed rehabilitation, aged care and mental health campus.

There was a large and angry response during a meeting at Bentley on Wednesday 18 February when staff were told about the changes. For employees to be this angry, in this number, it indicates there has been poor communication by management.
