Secretary Dan Hill - Retirement Announcement
Thursday 14 Mar 2019
It is with a little sadness (but much anticipation and excitement!) that I announce that I have decided to retire. My last day of work will be 26th July 2019 allowing time for the recruitment of a new Secretary.
Under the rules of the union the Secretary’s position is appointed by the Committee of Management and the position is required to be advertised twice in a daily paper.
Your elected Committee of Management under the leadership of your President, Cheryl Hamill, is commencing a recruitment and selection process for my replacement. The Committee has decided to engage external support to administer the recruitment process. The position will be advertised widely and on the union’s website.
I commenced with the union as a Membership Clerk on 28 June 1979 and after working through the roles of Organiser, Industrial Officer and Assistant Secretary I was appointed Secretary on 26th July 1993. It has been an honour and a privilege to serve you for 40 years, 26 as Secretary.
I am leaving the union in good hands. You have a Committee of Management and experienced staff, dedicated to growing the union and working to protect and further the interests of all members.
I hope you will indulge me over the next few months as I take some of my remaining time to reflect on the highs and lows, challenges and triumphs I have shared with you over the years.
