Treasurer's Report 2019
Friday 20 Dec 2019
Copies of the union’s complete financial statements audited by Anderson Munro & Wyllie can be found here. Any member who does not have access to email or the internet can request a copy of the statements be sent to them.
The union returned a small surplus for the year on the back of a growth in financial membership of 3.38%. This result included a reduction in staff leave liability and a large amount towards the final depreciation for the 2015 union office fit-out.
Membership Benefits still include $20 million of Indemnity Insurance, Journey Cover, the $5,000 Bereavement Benefit, a free basic will from Slater & Gordon, and access to special discounts through Shoprite.
The AGM voted to maintain union subscriptions at 2018 rates. This was the second year running that fees have not increased. Continuing modest wage outcomes in both the private and public sector due to the sluggish state economy and State government wages policy were significant factors to this decision. Subscription rates for 2020 can be found here
The auditors approved the financial statements without qualification. If members have any questions or comments about the financial statements, please contact Secretary Naomi McCrae at the HSUWA office.
