Welcome improvements to security, but do they go far enough?

The Health Minister Roger Cook has announced $5 million has been allocated across WA Health “for immediate action to help stop violence and aggressive behaviour within hospitals”.
This is a good start to addressing the ideas and solutions proposed at the recent Stop the Violence Summit which the HSUWA attended. For more on the summit, read here.
You may have seen reports in the media on the weekend which talked up possible airport-style security and new powers for security officers. This seems a bit speculative and premature given the outcomes of the summit and the comments to the media by the Minister.
While we welcome the funding boost, we do have questions, such as where and how will the $5 million be spent? Is the money for temporary fixes or more permanent outcomes? Will regional WA get a look in at the extra resources?
