The HSUWA is a State Trade Union registered under the Industrial Relations Act (WA). We are also the WA Branch of the National Health Services Union, registered under the Fair Work (Registered Organisations) Act (Cth).
In Summary
Membership
Membership is open to all people engaged in a Professional, Administrative, Supervisory, Technical or Clerical capacity by any public or private hospital or health service in Western Australia.
Management
We are governed by a Committee of Management of Members – consisting of a President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary and nine Committee Members.
The Committee of Management are elected, apart from the Secretary – who is appointed to manage the union’s operations.
Meetings
The Committee of Management meets at least quarterly. The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is held in December of each year.
Auditor
An Auditor, who is required to be a duly qualified Public Accountant, is appointed from year to year at the AGM.
Contributions
A general meeting of the union (usually the AGM) sets membership contributions.
Resignations
Written notice of resignation is required to formally cease being a union member.
There is no obligation for the union to refund membership contributions received prior to notice of resignation.
Any member who does not pay their contributions for a period of three months or more will be deemed ‘unfinancial’ and to have resigned.
