Union Members Win at Mt Lawley Hospital

HSUWA Members standing with the petitions at Mt Lawley Hospital.

Recently, HSUWA Members joined together with ANMF WA Members and petitioned the State Government of WA to recognise existing service and preserve entitlements from working at Mt Lawley Hospital, should they transition to employment by East Metropolitan Health Service upon the hospital’s return to public hands.

Today, the Health Minister wrote to HSUWA to confirm that if appointed to EMHS, employees will receive:

  • Recognition of pro rata long service leave if you were permanently employed with St John of God Health Care.
  • Recognition of prior service for the purposes of accessing paid parental leave.
  • Immediate access to your first year of personal leave entitlements (15 days for a full-time employee).

Thanks to the strong advocacy of union members across the HSUWA and ANMF WA, this was offered to incentivise staff to stay at Mt Lawley Hospital. We hope you are proud of your efforts and standing strong together!
