2026 HSUWA Conference

HSUWA Delegates, Activists and Leaders across both the public and private health sectors gathered for the 2026 HSUWA Conference on Friday 16 October at the University Club of WA for a day of inspiration, strategy and collective action.

Members shared a number of powerful stories about how they addressed issues in their workplace or stuck together during bargaining for their replacement Union Agreements. While each of the five members who spoke shared different experiences, their message was the same: If you have overwhelming majority union membership, strong Delegate and leadership structures in place, and members willing to do whatever it takes, successful outcomes can be achieved. We would like to sincerely thank Cristie Craggs, Amanda Cooper, Jo McNabb, Vincent Lim and Catherine Mason for sharing their experiences and demonstrating the impact of collective action!

The Minister for Health, Mental Health and Preventative Health, Meredith Hammat, also addressed the Conference, and Members had the opportunity to ask several insightful questions. These questions included the State Government’s response to AI-driven changes to workplaces and their position on supporting the career advancement of HSUWA Members.

Finally, Members from both the public and private sector met to discuss and strategise on important upcoming bargaining campaigns. With the public sector Union Agreement expiring in June 2027 and the private sector negotiating several Union Agreements over the next 12 months, 2027 is going to be a busy year for HSUWA Members. Keep a look out for correspondence in your workplace to stay updated and informed about the progress of bargaining.

A special thanks to our event sponsors, HESTA, Slater & Gordon Lawyers and Aware Super, for supporting HSUWA Members.
