Thanks to the committed advocacy of union members, including HSUWA Members, Pathology Collectors working for private employers across Australia are set to receive historic pay increases to the minimum wages set out under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award.
Employers failed in their attempt to block the change by the Fair Work Commission, so this outcome will see the majority of Pathology Collectors reclassified under the Award, which reflects the minimum wage your employer must pay you. Over time, this decision will have a knock-on effect on the classifications and rates of pay applying to Members on collective agreements. The Award changes come into effect on 1 April 2026.
More changes to pay and conditions will come when everyone is working together in their union – please encourage your colleagues to join HSUWA. This is a huge win for Pathology Collectors, achieved because of the efforts of union Members. Congratulations!
